Senior Staff Research Scientist, Google Research

About the position

As a Senior Staff Research Scientist at Google Research, you will lead and contribute to a diverse portfolio of research projects that drive innovation and product development. This role involves setting up large-scale tests, managing deadlines, and applying cutting-edge theories to create new products and technologies. You will also engage with the wider research community by publishing findings and collaborating with academic institutions globally.

Responsibilities

• Author research papers to generate impact of research results across the organization and in the research community.
• Contribute to research growth by sharing research trends and best practices within the community by reviewing academic papers, serving on program committees and grant panels, speaking at Google events or research conferences, or organizing research conferences and visioning activities.
• Deliver full projects by defining the data structure, framework, design, and evaluation metrics for research solution development and implementation. Identify timelines and obtain resources needed.
• Identify new and upcoming research areas by interacting with potential external and internal collaborators. Own long-term research strategy and plans to expand the impact of Google research.
• Identify undefined problems in existing technology and engage stakeholders and leaders to address them.

Requirements

• PhD degree in Computer Science, a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
• 6 years of experience with research agendas across multiple teams or projects.
• One or more scientific publication submission(s) for conferences, journals, or public repositories.

Nice-to-haves

• 4 years of experience leading multiple research efforts and influencing research direction.
• 2 years of coding experience.
