About the position
The Senior Staff Software Engineer for the Data Platform at DoorDash is responsible for shaping the long-term technical roadmap of the organization. This role involves guiding engineering teams, mentoring senior engineers, and making critical technical decisions to enhance the data architecture and development processes. The engineer will build data-intensive solutions that support various stakeholders across the company, ensuring the delivery of high-quality data products and maintaining a focus on continuous improvement and collaboration.
Responsibilities
- Build data-intensive solutions for engineers, data scientists, analysts, and business users.
- Drive and deliver the ongoing product vision of data products.
- Mentor and guide senior engineers in architectural patterns and technical choices.
- Collaborate with stakeholders and external partners to enhance data solutions.
- Continuously improve data architecture and development processes.
Requirements
- Extensive experience in building and operating scalable, fault-tolerant, distributed systems for large-scale data applications.
- Experience in building data products and abstractions on top of infrastructure.
- Familiarity with large-scale data systems, including data processing and real-time insights.
- Proficiency in backend service and tool development using Golang, Kotlin, and/or Python.
- Experience with cloud services such as AWS and container orchestration tools like Kubernetes.
Nice-to-haves
- Familiarity with Apache Kafka, Apache Flink, Apache Spark, Trino (Presto), and Apache Airflow/Dagster.
- Experience with data quality and reliability frameworks.
- Knowledge of cost efficiency in data systems.
