About the position

As a Senior Staff Software Engineer at Google Cloud, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the architecture and implementation of the Cloud Learning Services (CLS) Engineering team. This position focuses on developing a scalable learning platform and building tools to enhance the learning experience for cloud learners globally. You will lead the design and implementation of large-scale distributed systems, collaborate with cross-functional teams, and drive innovative solutions that address complex challenges in the cloud technology space.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver strategic impact and own outcomes for the vision, architecture, and implementation of the CLS Infrastructure and GenAI, ensuring scalability, reliability, and user-friendliness.
  • Design intuitive systems and features to create more effective and efficient learning experiences for users of all skill levels leveraging GenAI.
  • Work on ambiguous, open-ended technical challenges related to managing large ambiguous problems and distilling the path forward.
  • Bring industry trends and technologies, and transform learning through the use of cutting-edge technologies.
  • Collaborate with both technical and non-technical stakeholders understanding differing points of view.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.
  • 8 years of experience in software development, and with data structures/algorithms.
  • 7 years of experience building and developing infrastructure, distributed systems or networks, or experience with compute technologies, storage, or hardware architecture.
  • 5 years of experience with design and architecture, and testing/launching software products.
  • 3 years of experience with Learning Management Systems (LMS), Learning Experience Platforms (LXP), and Content Management Systems (CMS) used in the academic or industry training space.

Nice-to-haves

  • Master's degree or PhD in Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical field.
  • 5 years of experience in a technical leadership role leading project teams and setting technical direction.
  • 3 years of experience working in a complex, matrixed organization involving cross-functional or cross-business projects.
  • 3 years of experience with LLMs, FineTuning, Prompt Engineering, and Model Evaluations.
  • 3 years of experience with LTI and related SSO patterns.
