About the position

The Validation and Application Engineer will play a crucial role in the Renesas Memory Interface Validation and Applications team, focusing on cutting-edge products such as RCD and data buffers. This position is characterized by high visibility and significant growth potential, making it an exciting opportunity for experienced professionals in the semiconductor industry. The engineer will support the product development life cycle from conception through to production release, which involves close collaboration with various functional teams including Design Engineering, Test Engineering, Quality Assurance, and other engineering groups. In this role, the engineer will be responsible for developing and executing production and characterization test plans and specifications. This includes designing and debugging hardware and software for lab validation and qualification purposes. The engineer will also perform bench testing to measure various device parameters in the lab, which is essential for design verification, characterization, and correlation. Analyzing measurement results and correlating the measurements between Automated Test Equipment (ATE) and bench tests will be a key part of the job, ensuring that the products meet the required specifications and performance standards.

Responsibilities

  • Support product development life cycle from conception to production release.
  • Interface with multiple functional teams including Design Engineering, Test Engineering, Quality Assurance, and other engineering groups.
  • Develop and execute Production and Characterization test plans and specifications.
  • Design and debug hardware and software for lab validation and qualification purposes.
  • Perform bench testing to measure various device parameters in the lab for design verification, characterization, and correlation.
  • Analyze measurement results and correlate the measurements between ATE and bench.

Requirements

  • 8+ years of direct experience in post-Silicon validation, debug, and applications.
  • Strong knowledge of DDR3/DDR4/DDR5 and/or SERDES protocols, testing and application.
  • Deep knowledge in Silicon electrical characterization, particularly in high-speed signal measurement, analysis, and debug.
  • Skilled in the use of lab equipment such as oscilloscopes, pattern generators, ATE, Logic Analyzers.
  • Skilled in test automation development using Python.
  • Familiarity with DIMM RCD, Data Buffer and I2C and I3C devices is a plus.
  • Project management skills desired.
  • Familiar with computer system architecture, especially for Intel x86 server system.
  • Strong experience in Ansi-C programming, previous experience with Bios programming is preferred.
