About the position

The Senior Statistical Research Analyst at TransUnion serves as an analytical consultant within the Financial Services sector, focusing on areas such as auto, card, mortgage, and personal loans. This role involves conducting research studies, analyzing large datasets, and translating complex analytical findings into actionable business insights. Responsibilities

  • Act as an analytical consultant in the Financial Services area, providing industry-level trends and conducting research studies.
  • Extract data and perform segmentation and statistical analyses on large population datasets using SQL, R, and Python.
  • Translate complex analytical findings into business insights for industry conferences and publications.
  • Serve as an internal expert on traditional and short-term lending credit data and its application to industry trends.
  • Formulate research problems based on real-world needs and deliver analytic insights and recommendations.
  • Lead projects involving descriptive, predictive, and prescriptive analysis using various techniques such as segmentation, regression, clustering, and machine learning.
  • Cultivate an environment that promotes excellence, innovation, and continuous learning.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of analytical experience.
  • Master's or Ph.D. in Statistics, Applied Mathematics, Operations Research, Economics, or an equivalent discipline.
  • Advanced proficiency in writing SQL queries for data analysis.
  • Proficient in statistical programming languages such as R and Python.
  • Strong project management skills with the ability to prioritize and lead multiple assignments simultaneously.
  • Ability to describe analytic ideas, requirements, processes, and findings in non-technical terms.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with FCRA data in consumer credit from lenders, credit bureaus, or government agencies.
  • Highly analytical mindset with curiosity to explore data trends and consumer behavior.
  • Ability to translate business problems into analytical designs and propose solutions based on analysis findings.
  • Experience with big data platforms like Apache Hadoop, Apache Spark, Hive, and data visualization tools like Tableau.
