About the position

AtkinsRéalis is seeking a Senior Structural Design Engineer to join our team in Miami, FL or Ft. Lauderdale, FL. This role is pivotal in leading and participating in a diverse range of projects, including the design of simple and complex structures such as bridges, culverts, retaining walls, and overhead gantries for highway, transit, rail, airport, and trail projects. As a Senior Structural Design Engineer, you will be responsible for defining the scope of projects, interpreting, organizing, and executing project assignments with full accountability. You will perform project design, sketching design concepts that will be developed by junior engineers, CAD designers, or technicians, and will plan and review the production of engineering drawings and specifications. In this role, you will also develop and evaluate plans and criteria for new projects, weighing alternatives and selecting the most cost-effective solutions. You will analyze technical problems, assess the feasibility of proposed techniques and procedures, and devise new approaches and alternative solutions. Additionally, you will analyze project dimensions and scope, preparing or overseeing the preparation of cost and manpower estimates, schedules, and job budgets. Coordination with project managers and guidance for junior professionals and technical personnel on the design and drafting of preliminary and final plans will be essential. You will be responsible for maintaining quality control, ensuring that all work produced meets quality standards, and checking computations or reviewing designs and drawings performed by others. While this position may occasionally involve project management, it primarily focuses on technical design responsibilities.

Responsibilities

Requirements

  • B.S. or M.S. in Engineering; M.S. or graduate level technical coursework preferred.
  • PE License Required with 10+ years of post-registration experience.
  • 12-15 years of relevant experience overall.
  • Exceptional communication skills.
