About the position

The Senior Structural Design Engineer at Bombardier is responsible for investigating design build issues and developing solutions for structural engineering and instrumentation installation. This role involves authoring temporary engineering documents, managing aircraft non-conformances, and coordinating with various engineering disciplines to ensure quality and compliance in aircraft modifications. The position emphasizes employee growth and development within a flexible and hybrid work environment.

Responsibilities

• Investigate design build issues and develop structural engineering and instrumentation installation solutions
• Author temporary engineering to resolve build issues in a timely manner
• Disposition aircraft non-conformances including rework instructions (MRB)
• Perform aircraft and engineering drawing investigation and coordination with affected engineering disciplines, Quality Assurance, and operations manufacturing representatives
• Design Flight Test engineering change requests and coordinate with work package owners
• Author engineering to define structural special instructions or restrictions
• Design and Release Special Missions Engineering structural and systems installations

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical/Aeronautical Engineering or a related discipline from an accredited University
• Minimum of 10 years industry experience
• Must be a U.S. Citizen or U.S. Permanent Resident (Green Card Holder) due to US ITAR requirements
• Experience in Special Missions or Aftermarket modifications
• Experience supporting manufacturing and aircraft modifications
• Minimum of 6,000 hours on CATIA V5
• Proficient in CATIA V5 Workbenches: Assembly Design, Part Design (Boolean Operations), Aerospace Sheetmetal, Tubing Design, Kinematics and Electrical Harness Routing
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Highly motivated, self-starter
