About the position

Holtec International, a leading supplier of technologies for the nuclear and sustainable energy industries, is looking for an experienced structural engineer/analyst to join its Applied Mechanics Group. This position offers a unique opportunity to contribute to the design of Holtec's first-of-a-kind small modular reactor (SMR). As part of a growing multidisciplinary team, the Senior Engineer will play a crucial role in designing the next generation of nuclear power plants. The Senior Engineer will be responsible for analyzing various structures, including metallic, reinforced concrete, steel-concrete composite, and soil-subgrade supported structures. These analyses will support engineering requirements that are essential for the licensing and construction of SMR-300 plants globally. The role will involve using and learning various methods and software to perform these analyses, ensuring that the designs meet the necessary standards and requirements. Specific responsibilities include executing and documenting analyses for a variety of structures, systems, and components (SSCs). The Senior Engineer will review available concept designs based on ambiguous requirements and develop them into mature designs through critical thinking, literature research, and collaboration with other disciplines and vendors. Additionally, the engineer will support the preparation of design deliverables, presentations, and communicate design progress in stakeholder meetings. The role also involves supporting the development of engineering and licensing requirements and documentation for nuclear SSCs.
