About the position

We are seeking a Senior Structural Engineer to oversee structural engineering designs of all types of structures and/or facilities for government, commercial, and private clients. This role involves the development of construction documents using AutoCAD and Revit, as well as the selection of building gravity and lateral systems. The designs may include facility design, where the engineer will work closely with other disciplines, or may consist of stand-alone structural projects such as retaining walls. The candidate will also play a crucial role in managing junior staff, including engineers and/or drafters, ensuring that projects are completed efficiently and to a high standard. In this position, the Senior Structural Engineer will be responsible for producing plans, reports, and specifications, assisting in the development of drafting and project standards, and preparing cost estimates and inspection reports. Quality control and quality assurance will be key components of the role, as well as performing structural calculations for the design of buildings and retaining walls. The engineer will also engage in structural drafting and will work closely with junior engineering and drafting staff to foster their development and ensure project success. The role may require travel for field measurements, data gathering, calculations, and drafting, making it essential for the candidate to be adaptable and capable of managing multiple projects simultaneously. Responsibilities

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in civil engineering, structural engineering, or similar from an Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology accredited college or university
  • A minimum of ten (10) years' experience
  • Licensed Professional Civil Engineer or Structural Engineer in Florida, with ability to become licensed PE in other states within 6 months of hire
  • 10+ years of design experience in the state, local, or Federal government markets
  • AutoCAD and Revit experience is desirable
  • Demonstrated ability to solve complex problems
  • Strong oral and written communication skills

Nice-to-haves

  • Previous military experience preferred
  • Capability of working on multiple projects simultaneously
