About the position

At IMEG, one of the largest design consulting firms in the U.S., we are excited to offer a rewarding career opportunity for a Senior Structural Engineer / Supervisor in our Cincinnati office. This position is designed for an experienced professional who is ready to take on a leadership role within our team. As a Senior Structural Engineer, you will be responsible for providing high-level leadership, mentoring, and training for less experienced staff. Your role will encompass various aspects of engineering, including technical guidance, project management, marketing, and business development. In this role, you will have the opportunity to make significant design recommendations and decisions with minimal input from senior staff. You will plan design work by discipline for projects of all sizes and assign duties to staff working on these projects. Your responsibilities will also include reviewing correspondence prepared by junior staff and actively participating in the quality control of projects. Depending on your career path, you may contribute to our Technical Operations Team or serve as a Project Manager on large complex projects. You will identify prospective clients, assist in marketing efforts, and prepare proposals for services, all while consistently bringing work into the firm and participating in client presentations. We are looking for a candidate who possesses a mastery of the technical aspects of structural engineering and has demonstrated leadership traits. You should have the ability to mentor, motivate, and lead others, perform final quality control checks in your area of expertise, and communicate effectively in both oral and written forms. This position requires a Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, with a Master's in Structural Engineering preferred, along with a Structural Engineer license and a minimum of 13 years of qualifying experience. Responsibilities

  • Provide high-level leadership, mentoring, and training for less experienced staff.
  • Make major design recommendations and decisions with minimal input from senior staff.
  • Plan design work by discipline for all project sizes and assign duties to staff working on projects.
  • Review correspondence prepared by junior staff.
  • Actively participate in quality control of projects.
  • Contribute to leadership in the Technical Operations Team for both large and small projects.
  • Act as an advisor and analyze technical problems, writing reports as necessary.
  • Play a significant role in project reviews for quality control for large complex projects.
  • Provide technical assistance to resolve field issues, including site visits to address technical problems.
  • Serve as Project Manager on large complex projects or multiple smaller projects.
  • Identify prospective clients and assist in marketing to develop new clients, preparing proposals for services.
  • Consistently bring work into the firm with existing or new clients and participate in presentations to clients.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering.
  • Master's in Structural Engineering preferred.
  • Structural Engineer license.
  • Minimum of 13 years of qualifying experience.
  • Demonstrated leadership traits in either the Technical or Project Management Path.
  • Mastery of the technical aspects of structural engineering.
  • Aptitude to design/manage major projects.
  • Ability to mentor, motivate, and lead others.
  • Ability to perform final quality control checks in their area of expertise.
  • Ability to communicate clearly in both oral and written forms.
