About the position

Arcadis is seeking a Senior Structural Engineer to join the Resilience Water Team, focusing on sustainable design and engineering solutions for water and wastewater infrastructure. This role involves leading engineering projects, mentoring junior staff, and collaborating with various engineering disciplines to deliver impactful solutions that address climate change and urbanization challenges.

Responsibilities

  • Lead water/wastewater design engineering and construction projects.
  • Conduct structural condition assessments and produce design calculations, technical reports, and engineering plans.
  • Mentor entry-level and junior structural engineering staff.
  • Organize and conduct structural engineering investigations and planning work.
  • Research feasibility of alternative design approaches and regulatory specifications.
  • Develop calculations, plans, specifications, and contract documents.
  • Coordinate with engineering disciplines, clients, and subcontractors throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Manage production of engineering drawings, specifications, bid packages, and cost estimates.
  • Function as Engineer of Record, Task Manager, or Project Engineer to manage budgets and schedules.
  • Facilitate coordination for timely completion and submission of projects.

Requirements

  • 10 years of structural engineering experience in Water/Wastewater.
  • Bachelor's degree in Structural or Civil Engineering (Structural emphasis).
  • Professional Engineer (PE) License in Structural or Civil/Structural in Virginia, Maryland, DC, or ability to obtain reciprocity within 6 months of hire.
  • Strong structural analysis and design skills, including proficiency in STAAD Pro and other structural software.
  • Strong technical writing and editing skills.
  • Experience preparing, reviewing, and approving project drawings, specifications, schedules, and cost estimates.
  • Functional knowledge and experience with AutoCAD/REVIT software.
  • Excellent knowledge of building codes and standards such as IBC, ACI.

Nice-to-haves

  • Master's Degree in Structural or Civil Engineering (Structural emphasis).
  • 15 years of structural engineering experience in Water/Wastewater.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) License in additional states such as Georgia, Florida, Alabama, etc.
  • Structural Engineer (SE) License, NCEES Record with MLSE.
  • Passed NCEES 16-Hour structural exam.
  • MATHCAD proficiency.
