About the position

The Senior Structural Engineer will play a pivotal role in supporting design and rehabilitation projects for large infrastructure, focusing on transportation building infrastructure. This position involves overseeing design development, managing construction phase services, and leading various design projects. The role requires a strong commitment to quality assurance and mentoring junior engineers while coordinating with clients and preparing proposals.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee design development and project deliverables for new and rehabilitation of existing transportation building infrastructure.
  • Manage construction phase services on behalf of the Designer of Record.
  • Lead various design projects under Design/Build and Design/Bid/Build environment.
  • Perform and oversee structural design calculations, drawings, and details for various building design and condition assessment projects.
  • Mentor and monitor work by other structural engineers. Perform quality control and quality assurance checks on deliverables.
  • Client coordination including coordinating deliveries, submittals, meetings, review comments, etc.
  • Assist in the preparation of proposals and presentations on various pursuits.

Requirements

  • Licensed or ability to obtain the Professional Engineer license in the States of NY and NJ.
  • Proficiency in STAAD, CSI, SAP, RAM, ETABS and other structural analysis and design software.
  • Knowledge of AutoCAD, Revit and MicroStation.
  • Thorough understanding of design codes and agency standards such as NYSBC, NYCBC, ASCE, AISC and ACI.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Strong leadership and team building skills are essential to meet the expectations of this challenging position.
  • Minimum 10 years of experience in the structural design of buildings and/or design of transportation structures.

Nice-to-haves

  • Graduate Degree highly desired.
  • Experience with agencies such as MTA, NYCEDC, NYCDDC, PANYNJ, NYCDPR, NJ Transit etc. is desired.
