About the position

The Senior Structural Engineer at Hatch will lead and manage a team of engineers and designers in the design and analysis of steel and concrete structures for various industrial projects. This role involves providing technical leadership, ensuring project requirements are met, and maintaining high standards of quality, cost, and schedule. The position is integral to the Project Delivery Group, focusing on innovative and sustainable engineering solutions.

Responsibilities

• Lead teams of engineers, EIT's, and designers on complex projects related to the design of steel and concrete structures.
• Support complex industrial and water/wastewater projects as part of a multidisciplinary team.
• Lead or actively participate in meetings with clients, contractors, and other consultants.
• Coordinate workload for structural engineering staff.
• Mentor and support Structural Engineers and Engineers-in-Training.
• Coordinate with engineers and designers of other disciplines.
• Verify structural calculations performed by others.
• Perform site visits for visual engineering assessments and client engagement.
• Participate in formal engineering review processes.
• Identify project risks and develop strategies to minimize them.
• Participate in the preparation of design drawings and specifications.
• Estimate project budgets and costs.
• Ensure integration of safety and integrity principles in structural documentation.
• Ensure adherence to engineering standards and internal procedures.

Requirements

• 10-15 years of experience in the design of steel and/or concrete structures and project management.
• Bachelor's degree in civil engineering with a focus on structural design.
• PE License in Civil/Structural engineering.
• Ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary project team.
• Experience supervising, mentoring, and motivating a team of engineers and designers.
• Experience with the design of steel and concrete structures.
• Experience with finite element analysis programs such as STAAD.Pro.
• Strong knowledge of design codes and standards.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Excellent organizational skills to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
