About the position

Aldwych Consulting is seeking a Senior Structural Engineer to join their London Buildings Structures division. This is a unique opportunity to be part of a world-leading multi-disciplinary and multinational consultancy. The firm is currently experiencing growth, and the London Civil & Structural Team, which consists of five staff members, is expanding. The workload is diverse, covering various sectors including industrial, residential, logistics, retail, rail, aviation, energy, and data centres. This role is particularly significant as it comes at a time when the structural business stream is poised for rapid growth, making it a key appointment for the team. In this position, you will work under the guidance of the Principal Engineer and will have the opportunity to mentor and oversee a Project Engineer. The firm values a collaborative environment, and you will be working alongside structural teams from other office locations. The ideal candidate will possess a winning mindset and have substantial experience in the design of varied building structures. Excellent communication skills are essential, as you will be expected to liaise effectively with clients and team members. Responsibilities

  • Design and develop structural engineering solutions for various building projects.
  • Collaborate with the Principal Engineer and Project Engineer to ensure project success.
  • Mentor and guide junior engineers and project staff.
  • Communicate effectively with clients, stakeholders, and team members.
  • Participate in regular CPD and training sessions to enhance professional skills.
  • Contribute to the growth and expansion of the structural team.

Requirements

  • Proven experience as a Structural Engineer, particularly in building structures.
  • Strong knowledge of structural design principles and practices.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Experience with various sectors such as industrial, residential, and commercial projects.

Nice-to-haves

  • Chartered status or working towards it with a relevant professional body.
  • Experience in project management and client liaison.
  • Familiarity with design software and tools used in structural engineering.
