About the position

The Senior Engineer at ZFA Structural Engineers will play a crucial role in expanding the firm's presence in Northern California's construction market. This position involves a blend of technical expertise, project management, and client interaction, with a focus on delivering a diverse range of projects. Responsibilities

  • Conduct daily design, organization, and technical work with a high degree of independence.
  • Exercise maturity and sound judgment in decision-making and problem-solving.
  • Technically and financially manage projects of various sizes and complexities.
  • Maintain responsibility for technical quality on project documents, budget, and schedule during design and construction administration.
  • Mentor and supervise engineers at all levels of experience.
  • Lead a team of design engineers and/or BIM staff for specific projects.
  • Serve as an effective client contact and maintain positive client relationships.
  • Utilize timely communication to inform clients of project status.
  • Participate in and occasionally lead staff training as requested.
  • Contribute to the office- and firm-wide technical expertise, standards, and efficiencies.

Requirements

  • Minimum of a bachelor's degree in civil, architectural, or structural engineering.
  • Professional registration as a licensed Civil Engineer is required; a Structural Engineer license is preferred.
  • Five to 10 years of experience with various project sizes, types, and construction materials.
  • Proven knowledge and understanding of engineering and construction principles and practices.
  • Ability and desire to learn project management skills.
  • Personable demeanor to maintain positive client relationships.
  • Desired computer skills: REVIT, Excel, Enercalc, ETABS, RISA, SAFE, RAM Steel.

Nice-to-haves

  • Structural engineering master's degree is a plus.
  • Experience with masonry is a plus.
