About the position

The Senior Structural Engineer will collaborate with the engineering team to develop design solutions that meet the context, budget, and aesthetic requirements of building projects. This role involves analyzing design intent to produce effective technical solutions and coordinating with various professional disciplines throughout all project phases, utilizing knowledge of building systems, materials, codes, and construction technologies.

Responsibilities

• Designs components of the overall building, integrating architectural design and adhering to applicable codes and jurisdictional requirements.
• Evaluates engineering design requirements and creates drawings to support construction projects.
• Performs engineering activities such as calculations, code research, material and building systems research, laying out components, and calculating program and building areas.
• Evaluates site conditions, including zoning requirements and site constraints, and performs site surveys and field reviews to accurately document existing and new construction conditions.
• Synthesizes, interprets, and coordinates technical information to write engineering specifications for Project Manuals.
• Reviews project products, services, and shop drawings to ensure adherence to project documents, relevant jurisdictional codes, and corporate quality controls.

Requirements

• Proficient in Engineering software skills, including AutoCAD, Revit, and structural engineering systems design software.
• Engineering knowledge related to building structural systems and multiple building types.
• Familiarity with architectural design concepts and building codes is required.
• Successfully completed related post-secondary education.
• Registered with a relevant professional engineering association.
• 10+ years of project work experience in structural engineering building systems.
