About the position
Dewberry is seeking a responsible, highly motivated, and detail-oriented individual to join our structures department in Rancho Cordova or Long Beach, CA as a Senior Structures/Project Engineer (Bridge). The successful candidate will be part of a team designing simple and complex bridges (primarily of concrete and steel construction) and a variety of transportation-related structures such as retaining walls, culverts, sign structures, and other miscellaneous structures. The candidate will also be involved in leading and developing Plans, Specifications, and Estimate (PS&E) packages, conducting field inspections, and providing construction design support services. Project Engineering responsibilities include being the technical lead on multidisciplinary teams, utility coordination, right-of-way needs assessments, funding justifications, and other items needed for project development. Responsibilities
- Design simple and complex bridges primarily of concrete and steel construction.
- Develop Plans, Specifications, and Estimate (PS&E) packages.
- Conduct field inspections and provide construction design support services.
- Lead multidisciplinary teams as the technical lead.
- Coordinate utilities and assess right-of-way needs.
- Prepare funding justifications and other project development items.
Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree in civil engineering from an accredited 4-year engineering college is required.
- California Professional Engineer (PE) License is required.
- 10-15 years of experience in bridge and retaining wall projects.
- Experience designing transportation-related structures projects to Caltrans and local agency standards.
- Familiarity with AASHTO LRFD Bridge Design Specifications with Caltrans Amendments.
- Proficiency using CADD (AutoCAD Civil 3D preferred).
- Proficient in MS Office (WORD and EXCEL).
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong leadership skills and desire to deliver the highest quality projects to clients.
Nice-to-haves
- Master's degree is preferred.
