About the position

The Senior Student Services Specialist plays a crucial role in the Arts & Sciences Student Services and Admissions Office, providing essential administrative support to ensure excellent service delivery to students, faculty, and staff. This position is responsible for managing degree audits, student records, and the transfer student credit evaluation process, while also mentoring and training staff on relevant policies and procedures. The role emphasizes collaboration with various university departments to support student success from admission to graduation.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the staff lead for degree audit and commencement-related activities.
  • Manage student records, focusing on graduating seniors.
  • Oversee the transfer student credit evaluation process in collaboration with the admissions team.
  • Mentor and assist in the training and development of the Student Services Coordinator and other staff on student records policies and procedures.
  • Collaborate with admissions, advising, and registrar colleagues to support student services.
  • Act as a resource for department undergraduate coordinators and partner with university offices.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree and up to 2 years of experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Experience in and/or demonstrated commitment to supporting diversity, equity, access, inclusion, and wellbeing.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision while supporting team efforts.
  • Proficient in or ability to quickly learn required software programs (Microsoft Word, Excel, FileMaker, etc.).
  • Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to multi-task.
  • Must maintain strict confidentiality.

Nice-to-haves

  • An understanding of how an academic institution operates.
  • More than four years of Student Services experience to fully understand major, college, and university requirements.
  • Experience with student systems, such as PeopleSoft, Salesforce, or Slate.
