We are seeking a Senior Substation Civil/Structural Engineer to join our dynamic team in Chicago, IL. This role is pivotal in leading and designing high voltage utility Civil Substation projects, where you will collaborate with various electric utility disciplines. This position offers remote capabilities for select candidates within client servicing territories and follows a hybrid work schedule, requiring 2-3 days a week in the office. Additional location options include Portland, OR, Walled Lake, MI, Houston, TX, and Orlando, FL. The ideal candidate will possess a robust educational background in the design of steel and concrete structures, geotechnical engineering, and foundations. You will be responsible for reviewing substation structure designs, rigid bus designs, foundation designs, oil spill containment designs, retaining walls, masonry control shelters, and fire-walls. This position involves performing design reviews of these civil/structural components to support the development of bid and construction packages for substation projects. As a senior engineer, you will oversee the work of junior staff members, contribute to bids and proposal development, and take on a responsible engineer role on main client projects, ensuring quality control on design packages. Site visits to client substation facilities will be part of your responsibilities, along with occasional travel for client meetings and industry-related events. Experience in client-facing operations, such as lunch and learns and kick-off meetings, is preferred. You will be expected to comply with quality control and safe work practices while maintaining adherence to project scope, schedule, and budget expectations. This role is integral to a design team that includes engineers, designers, and drafting technicians.
