Leidos is seeking a Senior Substation Civil/Structural Engineer to join our dynamic team in Portland, OR, or other locations including Chicago, IL, Walled Lake, MI, Houston, TX, and Orlando, FL. This role is pivotal in leading and designing high voltage utility Civil Substation projects, where you will collaborate with various electric utility disciplines. As a recognized leader in the industry, Leidos has been ranked among the Top 10 T&D Firms and Top 10 Power Firms by Engineering News-Record (ENR). This position offers a hybrid work schedule, allowing for remote capabilities for select candidates within client servicing territories, with an expectation of 2-3 days a week in the office. In this role, you will leverage your strong educational background in the design of steel and concrete structures, geotechnical engineering, and foundations. You will be responsible for reviewing designs related to substation structures, rigid bus systems, foundations, oil spill containment, retaining walls, masonry control shelters, and fire-walls. Your primary function will be to perform design reviews regularly, develop junior staff members, and contribute to bids and proposal development. You will also take on a responsible engineer role for main client projects, ensuring quality control on design packages and compliance with project scope, schedule, and budget expectations. Site visits to client substation facilities will be part of your responsibilities, along with occasional travel for client meetings and industry-related events. Your experience in client-facing operations, such as lunch and learns and kick-off meetings, will be beneficial. This position is a senior member of a design team that includes engineers, designers, and drafting technicians, and you will play a crucial role in maintaining quality control and safe work practices throughout the project lifecycle.
