About the position

The Senior Substation Project Engineer will be responsible for managing and executing substation design projects within the Power Delivery Substation Department at POWER Engineers. This role involves mentoring junior staff, ensuring quality and compliance with procedures, and maintaining client relationships while overseeing project schedules, budgets, and deliverables.

Responsibilities

• Grow and manage relationships with local clients
• Mentor less experienced staff in substation project execution
• Perform and direct detailed design of medium to extra high voltage utility substations
• Ensure POWER quality procedures are followed and that the team is optimally resourced
• Perform QA/QC for deliverables to clients across multiple offices
• Manage all schedule, budget, and quality of assigned projects

Requirements

• BSEE (BS Electrical Engineering) or BSEET (BS Electrical Engineering Technology) from an accredited university
• Professional Engineering license (PE) or ability to obtain within one year
• Experience in 15kV through 345kV physical and electrical substation design
• Experience in managing 5 or more people on a project team
• Strong command of the English language with good written and oral communication skills
• Legally authorized to work permanently in the U.S. without the need for work sponsorship

Nice-to-haves

• Ten or more years experience in utility substation design
• Established positive relationships with local clients
• Experience in 345kV through 500 kV substation design
