About the position

The Senior Supervisor Accounting at Freeport-McMoRan is responsible for overseeing the safe and efficient operation of an assigned work unit, ensuring adherence to production plans and safety regulations. This role involves coordinating with various operational areas, supervising first-line supervisors, and maintaining compliance with federal and state laws. The position requires a strong background in accounting and supervisory experience, with a focus on operational efficiency and safety in a mining environment.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise, coordinate, and control the operation of an assigned work unit through subordinate supervisors.
  • Ensure continued operations of production shifts by executing the production plan and schedules.
  • Provide operations input for production and maintenance planning.
  • Ensure adherence to safety and operating procedures and compliance with federal and state laws.
  • Inspect assigned work units to ensure schedules and objectives are attained.
  • Coordinate daily with other operational and staff areas including maintenance, processing, engineering, safety, environmental, and sales.
  • Directly supervise first-line or shift supervisors.
  • Perform other duties as required.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or GED and nine (9) years professional experience in accounting, including two (2) years in prolonged intellectual instruction in Accounting or Finance; OR
  • Associate's degree in Accounting, Finance, or closely related area and seven (7) years professional experience in accounting; OR
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance or closely related area, AND five (5) years of related Accounting experience, including supervisory or lead experience; OR
  • Master's degree in Accounting, Finance or closely related area, AND three (3) years of related Accounting experience, including supervisory or lead experience.
  • Knowledge of supervisory methods and techniques.
  • Skilled in resolving day-to-day questions/problems regarding equipment, materials, methods and procedures needed to complete projects.
  • Skilled in budget preparation, monitoring and administration.
  • Ability to develop and maintain awareness of occupational hazards and safety precautions.
  • Skilled in following safety practices and recognizing hazards.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in projects and fixed assets.
  • Intermediate to advanced experience in Microsoft Excel.
  • Bachelor's degree or higher preferred.
