About the position

The Senior Supervisor - Cargo Operations at United Airlines is a leadership role responsible for overseeing daily cargo operations, ensuring high-quality service delivery, and developing the skills of front-line employees and vendors. This position emphasizes performance management, coaching, and adherence to company guidelines while fostering a diverse and inclusive work environment.

Responsibilities

  • Manage all aspects of Cargo operations including freight and mail handling, data entry, scanning, and Cargo Internal Support operations (CRIS Operations).
  • Develop skills of front-line co-workers and vendors by coaching on performance issues.
  • Oversee and support the performance of business partners, CRIS desk, and ramp teams.
  • Communicate and resolve issues with other departments such as Sales, Ops, and Safety.
  • Provide weekly reports to the station leadership.
  • Engage and educate front-line co-workers to deliver excellent customer service and timely quality products.
  • Provide technical guidance and interpret company guidelines and procedures to assist employees.
  • Conduct routine investigations to identify and address issues with corrective actions.
  • Partner with Corporate Real Estate, IT, and local airport authorities to manage Cargo software and facilities.
  • Audit vendor compliance of regulatory policies.

Requirements

  • High school diploma.
  • Two (2) years experience in a Supervisor (L6) position, proficient in scheduling, payroll, and performance management systems.
  • Knowledge of Cargo Operations policies and procedures.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills, conflict resolution, and decision-making abilities.
  • Proficient in MS Word, MS Excel, MS PowerPoint, and MS Outlook.
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship.
  • Reliable, punctual attendance is essential.

Nice-to-haves

  • Bachelor's degree and/or 5+ years of equivalent work experience.
  • Experience supervising a unionized workforce.
  • Principles of project management.
