About the position

As a Senior Supply Chain Manager at Evonik, you will play a pivotal role in managing the day-to-day business requests and requirements from various departments including Sales, Marketing, Production, Logistics, Procurement, and Customer Service for the Mapleton site. Your responsibilities will encompass handling product shortages and managing the allocation of products and capacities, ensuring that material availability for raw materials, intermediates, and final products is maintained. You will analyze complex product and equipment interconnections within the Mapleton site to proactively respond to potential issues. In this role, you will establish and manage the Sales and Operations Planning (S&OP) process in collaboration with involved parties, ensuring that master planning is derived from sales forecasts. You will lead a planning team responsible for raw material disposition, product, and transportation planning to guarantee product availability, including managing stock transfers from and to external warehouses. Your expertise will also be crucial in supporting and coordinating capacity planning for the plants, optimizing inventory levels to meet demand, and ensuring the usage of standard processes and tools. You will closely monitor Net Working Capital (NWC) in a frequently changing planning environment, ensuring that the Mapleton Supply Chain team responds swiftly to changes in supply and demand. Additionally, you will be responsible for meeting NWC targets, managing Supply Chain reporting for the Mapleton site, and driving improvements in productivity, cost, quality, and efficiency of operations. Your role will also involve supporting product introductions and transfers, managing compliance requirements, and overseeing annual inventory stock-taking. As a senior member of the Site Leadership Team, you will represent the Supply Chain function, support the definition and execution of site strategies, and act as the deputy to the Head of Supply Chain Management for the Americas. Responsibilities

  • Manages the day-to-day business requests and requirements from various departments for the Mapleton site.
  • Handles product shortages and manages allocation of products and capacities.
  • Analyzes complex product/equipment interconnections to ensure material availability.
  • Establishes and manages the S&OP in collaboration with involved parties.
  • Responsible for master planning derived from the Sales forecast.
  • Manages the planning team including raw material disposition, product, and transportation planning.
  • Supports and coordinates capacity planning of the plants and midterm planning.
  • Optimizes and monitors inventory levels to fulfill demand by setting target levels.
  • Ensures usage of standard processes and tools.
  • Monitors NWC in a changing planning environment to respond quickly to changes in supply/demand.
  • Responsible for meeting NWC (inventory) targets.
  • Responsible for Supply Chain reporting for the Mapleton site.
  • Drives improvements in productivity, cost, quality, and efficiency of operations.
  • Supports product introductions and transfers to and from other sites.
  • Completes compliance requirements with EHSQ, Manufacturing, Customer Service, Sales/Marketing, Purchasing.
  • Manages annual inventory/stock taking and necessary inventory corrections.
  • Manages Supply Chain activities in projects such as establishment of an external warehouse.
  • Implementation of new/revised Supply Chain tools and procedures.
  • Represents the Supply Chain function as a senior member of the Site Leadership Team.
  • Supports the definition and execution of site strategies.
  • Acts as the deputy of the Head of SCM Americas.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in supply chain, manufacturing, product management, product planning, disposition or technical role, along with proven management experience.
  • Bachelor's degree in Chemistry, Engineering, or Supply Chain Management; MBA is a plus.
  • Excellent leadership skills combined with strong communication skills.
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of changing situations.
  • Excellent interpersonal and analytical skills with a strong ability to manage multiple tasks under time pressure.
  • Ability to work efficiently in a multicultural environment.
  • Strong computer skills with a focus on MS Office (especially Excel), SAP ERP, SAP APO DP/SNP and business Warehouse.
  • Proven track record of strategic thinking and execution.
  • Passion for people and team development and the management of change.
