About the position

This position represents the Purchasing team in program and customer reviews, acting as a liaison between functional departments. The role is crucial in evaluating and assessing new development and customization projects as they relate to the RECARO Americas Purchasing Strategy. The individual in this position is expected to contribute to supply chain optimization, continuous improvement, implementation of best practices, and change management within RECARO Americas. The essential duties and responsibilities include project management, where the Purchasing representative will handle all OEBs, defining and agreeing on lead times and risks to ensure feasible and ambitious OEBs according to the latest SP requirements. The planning of all purchasing activities, critical parts, milestones, and lead times for dedicated projects is a key responsibility. The individual will report on the current project status and implement required corrective actions to ensure SP target realization. Additionally, the role involves KPI status overview, tracking according to SP/SPS Shop Floor Management processes, and highlighting critical topics within the team, including the escalation process. The position also requires assurance of raw material availability at suppliers for all parts in cooperation with involved departments, successful implementation of logistics concepts for all concerned parts and suppliers, and preparation of purchasing specifications. The individual will define all purchasing targets in each project phase and ensure the required raw materials and technologies are available to realize global sourcing according to the latest commodity strategy. Risk management is another critical aspect, where the individual will implement an overview of purchasing risks for all responsible projects and define and track mitigation actions. Furthermore, the role includes tracking long lead items, milestone planning, and ensuring on-time delivery of required deliverables. The individual will also be responsible for cost monitoring, identifying and reviewing available cost tracking overviews for each responsible project, and ensuring transparency and corrective actions in the design process if required. The position requires effective communication with suppliers to ensure on-time delivery and successful project execution.

Responsibilities

  • Act as a liaison between functional departments for program and customer reviews.
  • Evaluate and assess new development and customization projects related to the Purchasing Strategy.
  • Contribute to supply chain optimization and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Plan all purchasing activities, critical parts, milestones, and lead times for dedicated projects.
  • Report on current project status and implement corrective actions to ensure target realization.
  • Track KPI status according to SP/SPS Shop Floor Management processes.
  • Ensure raw material availability at suppliers for all parts in cooperation with involved departments.
  • Prepare purchasing specifications for PSC/PDP including latest SP targets.
  • Define purchasing targets in each project phase for concerned projects.
  • Implement risk management strategies and track mitigation actions for purchasing risks.
  • Track long lead items and ensure on-time delivery of required deliverables.
  • Monitor costs and ensure transparency in cost tracking for each project.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Supply Chain Management or Engineering is required; Master's Degree is a plus.
  • 8 years of experience in Purchasing, Materials Management, Supply Chain, or related field.
  • 5+ years of experience in a customer-facing role with extensive knowledge of aircraft seats.
  • 2 years of SAP experience is required; experience with SQL, Oracle, Access, QLICK View, and Crystal Reports is a plus.
  • Knowledge of Oracle or other ERP systems is a plus.
  • Six Sigma - Green, Black, or Master Black belt preferred.
  • Project Management (PMP) Certification is preferred.
