Torch Technologies Inc. is seeking a Senior System Administrator/Network Design Engineer to support our Air & Missile Defense Business Unit. This role involves developing and applying advanced methods, theories, and research techniques to investigate and solve complex system design requirements and problems. The successful candidate will plan, conduct, and technically direct projects or major phases of significant projects, coordinating the efforts of engineers and technical support staff in the performance of assigned projects. The position requires conducting investigations of considerable complexity, reviewing literature, patents, and current practices relevant to the solution of assigned projects, and evaluating vendor capabilities to provide required products or services. Additionally, the role includes providing technical consultation to organizations and reviewing the completion and implementation of systems additions and/or enhancements, recommending corrections in technical application and analysis to management. The responsibilities of this position encompass a wide range of tasks including integration test support, debugging and troubleshooting issues during test events, and facilitating and maintaining any external network connections needed for test events. The Senior System Administrator/Network Design Engineer will also be responsible for installing and maintaining all software and licenses to support RIMS testing, maintaining physical hardware, automating tasks, managing backups, and overseeing data and file permissions. Monitoring systems and proactively addressing performance issues based on metrics is crucial, as is diagnosing and addressing problems across the full stack. The role requires maintaining local documentation, scripts, deployment methods, and diagrams, as well as working closely with developers during the RIMS software development and testing phases. Cybersecurity is a significant aspect of this role, where the candidate will operate tools for vulnerability assessment and remediation, analyze log patterns for nefarious activity, and enforce continuous monitoring practices across the system lifecycle. The position also involves creating technical reports and maintaining technical documentation for the eMASS package, assessing SSP for required controls, and ensuring compliance as systems and technology evolve. The candidate will be responsible for fixing PoAMs created during the RMF process, continuing SCAP scans, applying software updates, and maintaining and controlling access and accounts while enforcing an overall security posture. In terms of virtualization, the candidate will maintain a mixed Horizon virtual desktop infrastructure (VDI) and a vSphere/ESXi virtualization environment, configure and maintain all underlying virtualization host infrastructure, and assess license requirements. The role also includes maintaining TenZig zeroclients firmware and configurations, implementing orchestration to streamline virtual asset creation, and creating templates of virtualized assets to avoid bit rot. The candidate will also be responsible for writing and evolving configuration management content via Ansible playbooks, maintaining software update repositories, and automating common system actions. The position requires comprehensive knowledge of network engineering principles, experience managing Cisco UCS infrastructure, and the ability to design and recommend security policies and procedures. The candidate should demonstrate network design and optimization knowledge and possess broad knowledge and experience with routing and switching protocols. A BS Degree in Computer Science or a related field, along with 6 or more years of progressively complex systems design engineering experience, is required. A Secret clearance is also necessary for this position, which does not require travel.
