About the position

The Senior System Administrator at NewGen Technologies, Inc. plays a crucial role in supporting the Intelligence Community by providing technical support for system test and integration labs, as well as customer production environments. This position involves hands-on support for IT infrastructure, ensuring optimal performance and security of systems, and assisting on-site administrators with technical challenges.

Responsibilities

  • Provide technical support for the customer's system test and integration lab and production environment.
  • Perform daily system monitoring, verifying the integrity and availability of all hardware and server resources.
  • Troubleshoot network routing and manage routers and switches, specifically Cisco and Juniper devices.
  • Build and maintain Linux RHEL systems, MS Windows Server systems, and virtual environments including virtual servers and routers.
  • Conduct capacity and performance analysis, providing recommendations for system configuration changes and upgrades.
  • Manage daily activities of configuration and operation of systems, including system capacity analysis and planning.
  • Develop automated tools and scripts to increase system administrator efficiency and accuracy.
  • Prepare documentation and technical deliverables with excellent writing skills.
  • Provide hands-on guidance and training to junior staff members.
  • Perform regular security monitoring to identify vulnerabilities and potential intrusions.

Requirements

  • Must possess a TS SCI CI polygraph clearance.
  • 16 years of experience in IT, which can be a combination of work history and education (Doctorate + 8 years, Master's + 10 years, Bachelor's + 12 years, Associate's + 14 years, or HS diploma + 16 years).
  • Compliance with Department of Defense (DoD) 8570 Information Assurance Technical (IAT) Level 2.
  • Ability to process and analyze information and trouble calls submitted by customers.
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision to perform complex technical tasks.
  • Proficient in troubleshooting network routing and managing routers and switches.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with MicroFocus/OpenText and HP Network Monitoring tools.
  • Familiarity with DoD Risk Management Framework (RMF) information security requirements and standards.
