About the position

The Senior Systems and Network Administrator at Jesuit High School is responsible for designing, deploying, and supporting the school's IT infrastructure. This includes managing networks, servers, cloud services, backups, security, and phone systems. The role requires a hands-on approach to support the academic and operational needs of the school, ensuring a reliable and secure technology environment for students and staff.

Responsibilities

  • Provide top-tier/SME support for the school's network, servers, storage, backup, and VOIP systems.
  • Offer tier-2 support for select educational and business applications.
  • Lead small to midsize team-based IT projects, from requirements through delivery.
  • Plan and prioritize workload via a help ticketing system, including scheduling and organizing multiple tasks.
  • Collaborate with the IT team on leading the school's cybersecurity efforts.
  • Perform regular patching and maintenance on all network and server systems.
  • Ensure backups are performed and verified, collaborating on IT disaster recovery planning.
  • Oversee the inventory of network and server hardware, software, and services via an asset management system.
  • Work with external vendors to support and troubleshoot applications, network, phone, AV, and bell systems.
  • Create training materials and lead staff and student training sessions when needed.
  • Participate in establishing and reviewing the school's technology policies and procedures.
  • Collaborate with the Director of Technology on setting the department budget for the school's network and overall IT infrastructure.
  • Create and maintain up-to-date network and systems documentation.
  • Become an active member of the school community and support the mission of Jesuit High School.
  • Provide mentorship to co-workers, staff, and students.

Requirements

  • Minimum of five years' experience providing top-tier network, server, and infrastructure administration for a mid-sized organization (500+ clients).
  • Advanced understanding of network and infrastructure design, configuration, and troubleshooting.
  • Specific advanced experience with servers, switches/routers, firewalls, wireless access points, VOIP phone systems, IP cameras, AV systems, access controls, and storage.
  • Customer/client service focus.
  • Strong sense of professionalism, particularly with respect to confidentiality.
  • Enthusiasm for continuous learning and improvement, with an innovative and entrepreneurial approach.
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to convey ideas clearly and concisely.
  • Manage and execute data imports and exports while ensuring accuracy and efficiency.
  • Basic understanding of database architecture.
  • Adept at matching technical solutions to the educational and business needs of the school.
  • Ability to determine appropriate level of detail, resource use for specific projects.
  • Experience with configuring/supporting multiple types of devices and operating systems.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with MS 365, Google Workspace, Azure.
  • Familiarity with JAMF, Mosyle, Intune for MDMs.
  • Experience with Cisco, Meraki (Wireless), and Fortinet firewalls.
  • Knowledge of Cisco CUCM for VOIP/Phone systems.
  • Experience with HPE and Hyper-V servers.
  • Familiarity with educational applications like Canvas LMS, PowerSchool SIS, Finalsite, and Clever.
  • Certifications such as Security+, Network+, Server+, CCNA, Microsoft, etc.
  • Experience with building construction projects, specifically in working with low-voltage and AV contractors.
  • Proficiency in programming and/or scripting languages for task automation.
  • Experience in educational environments.
