About the position

The Senior System Engineer in the APO team at Motorola Solutions is responsible for overseeing all technical aspects of assigned projects from award until system acceptance. This role involves customer presentations, system staging, acceptance testing, and documentation, ensuring high customer satisfaction in mission-critical communication systems. The engineer will work closely with sales, project management, and system technologist personnel in a high-performance culture, often under demanding timelines.

Responsibilities

• Oversee all technical aspects of assigned projects from award until system acceptance.
• Conduct customer presentations to explain technical aspects of the system.
• Manage system staging and acceptance testing processes.
• Ensure complete system documentation is maintained throughout the project lifecycle.
• Facilitate live system upgrades as required.

Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, IT, Information Systems, Networking, or Cyber Security.
• 5+ years of experience in Computer Science, Engineering, Networking, IT, Cyber Security, or Information Systems.
• Experience and knowledge in P25 radio communication systems.
• Good understanding and working knowledge in IP networking and network design methodologies.
• Certifications such as CompTIA Network+, Juniper JNCIA-Junos, Nokia NRS1, CCNA or similar are required.
• Ability to obtain background clearances as required by government customers.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience working with Motorola ASTRO or other P25 radio communication systems.
• Knowledge of switching and routing protocols (OSPF, ISIS, iBGP, eBGP, M-BGP, MPLS RSVP-TE, and LDP).
• Experience with Juniper, Cisco, Nokia/Alcatel networking equipment.
• Excellent communication skills to present complex topics to non-technical audiences.
