About the position

Our client in Allen Park, MI is seeking a Systems Integration Engineer for a contract position. The primary responsibility of this role is to support the Software Engineering team in initiating the ECU Software Development Plan. This includes publishing the CAN Message List, P-Diagrams, and Quality History System Integration. The engineer will also be involved in the Electrical/Electronic System DFMEA, ensuring that all documents are stored in FEDE and that any potential critical characteristics are cascaded as required. The role requires a detailed understanding of common schematics and the ability to capture information in program schematics and Systems High Hurt Checklist. The engineer will evaluate, sign-off, complete, and release all device transmittals in VSEM. They will also conduct a thorough assessment of the Generic Power Distribution and Grounding Strategy, reviewing it with the System Technical Specialist (TS). Compatibility reviews of all DCV Device Transmittals will be conducted, ensuring that the DCV System and Subsystem Compatibility Review checklist is complete for all logical level requirements. The engineer will issue DCRs and mark-up schematics in the DCR Database to support grounding and power distribution content changes as necessary. Additionally, the role involves developing logical schematics with mark-ups to support the final schematic development, ensuring they are signed-off by the System TS. The engineer will collaborate with the EDS team to complete the initial DCV Physical Schematics and set system requirement targets. They will initiate design verification requests and ensure that all requirement deviations are agreed upon, signed-off, and entered into FEDE. The engineer will support the development and assessment summary for the Power Supply Charge Margin, Battery throughput, and Key-Off-Load Attribute Plans, ensuring no major issues are identified. The role also includes supporting the Netcom team in developing the Provisional Message List to complete the DCV Message List and any iteration updates of the Network Topology. The engineer will be responsible for developing the Electro Magnetic Compatibility test plan and conducting required milestone Technical Design Reviews with the System Technical Specialist in preparation for the Program Engineering Cut-off for design. Finally, the engineer will support on-site XM/Mule Launch Build and root cause build issues.

Responsibilities

  • Support the Software Engineer team to initiate the ECU Software Development Plan.

  • Evaluate, sign-off, complete, and release all device transmittals in VSEM.
  • Complete and review the Generic Power Distribution and Grounding Strategy Assessment with System TS.
  • Conduct System and Subsystem Compatibility Reviews of all DCV Device Transmittals.
  • Issue DCRs and mark-up schematics in the DCR Database for grounding and power distribution changes.
  • Develop logical schematics with mark-ups to support final schematic development and ensure sign-off by System TS.
  • Work with the EDS team to complete initial DCV Physical Schematics and set system requirement targets.
  • Initiate Design Verification requests and ensure all requirement deviations are signed-off and entered into FEDE.
  • Support the development and assessment summary for Power Supply Charge Margin and Battery throughput plans.
  • Support the Netcom team in developing the Provisional Message List and updates of the Network Topology.
  • Develop the Electro Magnetic Compatibility test plan and complete EMC Testing.
  • Conduct milestone Technical Design Reviews with System TS in preparation for Program Engineering Cut-off.
  • Support on-site XM/Mule Launch Build and root cause build issues.

Requirements

  • BS in Mechanical Engineering or Electrical Engineering (or equivalent).
  • 5+ years of experience in automotive electrical systems.
  • 5+ years of disciplined, team-based problem solving (Six Sigma preferred).
  • Understanding of FEDE BOM / WERS / GPDS / Bill of Material / FMA / AIMS / 8Ds / FEDE DVP / Engineering Sign Off / DFMEA / Six Sigma.
  • Experience launching new vehicles and working with a cross-functional team.
  • Experience with Vector CAN tools, Diagnostic Engineering Tool, Multimeter, Module Software flashing, CAN network troubleshooting, Bus Queries, Radmoon, CAN log and data collection, MyCanic, VehicleA configuration (VSCS).
