About the position

The Senior Systems Administrator (Data Center Linux Specialist) is responsible for managing and supporting a complex data center environment that includes both physical and virtual servers. This role involves configuring and tuning systems, implementing security controls, and providing support for various database systems and server environments. The position requires a strong background in Linux and Windows server administration, as well as experience with SQL and Oracle databases. The administrator will work closely with clients to ensure the smooth operation of data center services and support a wide range of applications.

Responsibilities

  • Provide configuring and tuning of systems including Windows, Oracle, SQL, Microsoft Hyper-V, PowerShell scripting, and Linux servers support to client data centers.
  • Create and implement scripts in an enterprise environment for Hyper-V administration, failover cluster administration, Windows server administration, anti-virus/OS patch management, and troubleshooting.
  • Assist with the implementation of necessary defined security controls in accordance with Cyber Security Assessment and Management (CSAM) systems.
  • Perform routine backups of failover SQL cluster and manage storage for failover SQL cluster.
  • Assist in Tier 1/2/3 support issues and perform patch management and vulnerability mitigation of failover SQL cluster nodes and SQL software.
  • Design, configure, implement, and maintain failover SQL cluster hardware and software configurations per manufacturer and industry best practices.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, Engineering, Information Technology preferred.
  • 7+ years of experience in systems administration.
  • Extensive knowledge in SQL and Oracle database systems.
  • Extensive knowledge of Windows, Oracle, SQL, Microsoft Hyper-V, PowerShell scripting, and Linux servers.
  • Demonstrated problem solving, judgment, and conflict resolution skills.
  • Excellent organizational, analytical, written, and interpersonal communication skills.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with virtualization technologies such as VMware or KVM.
  • Knowledge of shell scripting in Bash or Python.
  • Familiarity with network configuration and high availability clusters.
