About the position

GovCIO is seeking a Senior Systems Administrator (Linux Team Lead) to oversee the operation and maintenance of computer systems for our HUD contract. This fully remote position involves ensuring system integrity, implementing security measures, and coordinating with various teams to resolve technical issues. The role requires a proactive approach to system performance and documentation, as well as the ability to recommend improvements to network configurations.

Responsibilities

• Establish and maintain smooth operation of computer systems in networked or stand-alone configurations.
• Maintain system integrity and upgrade systems and/or servers as required.
• Create and document new methods supporting network/system operations and implement changes to procedures.
• Consult with support teams, help desks, customers, and other technical staff in the resolution of problems.
• Coordinate and perform operation and/or maintenance activities for networks/servers.
• Identify recurring problems and recommend steps to reduce their severity or frequency.
• Plan for the transition of development and/or production environments to new technologies.
• Utilize system software to monitor the performance of system files and manage system data to maintain performance efficiencies.
• Study system requirements to determine proper server installation methods and procedures.
• Plan, coordinate, and implement network/system security measures to protect data, software, and hardware.
• Provide regular monitoring and analysis regarding short and long-range planning for in-house systems.
• Prepare or ensure that appropriate documentation exists, including operational instructions.
• Write or modify basic scripts to resolve performance problems and automate administration tasks.
• Recommend changes to improve systems and network configurations, and determine hardware or software requirements related to such changes.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree with 8+ years of relevant experience or commensurate experience.
• Ability to obtain a Public Trust clearance.
