About the position

The Senior Systems Application Engineer will provide engineering support for internal and client-facing web applications across various operating systems, including Solaris, Oracle Linux, and Windows. This role involves collaboration with international teams and focuses on troubleshooting, security vulnerability management, and ensuring application availability and stability.

Responsibilities

  • Provide engineering support for web applications on Solaris, Oracle Linux, and Windows.
  • Collaborate with Solaris and Linux Server Administration, Cyber Security, and Network teams.
  • Participate in troubleshooting and resolving Production system issues.
  • Manage security vulnerability remediation and patching.
  • Ensure application availability, reliability, and stability.
  • Perform major version upgrades of Application Servers like Tomcat and Apache Web Server.
  • Follow change control processes for application releases.
  • Analyze and fine-tune server parameters for better application performance.
  • Support operational excellence by identifying ongoing operational issues and root-cause analyses.
  • Create and maintain technical documentation such as knowledge base articles and infrastructure diagrams.
  • Write Linux/UNIX Shell Scripts for monitoring and automating tasks.
  • Support and resolve application-related issues like disk space and SSL certificate expiries.

Requirements

  • Minimum 5 years of experience in Oracle Linux systems administration.
  • Hands-on experience in administering application servers in a corporate environment.
  • Working experience in public cloud AWS console management.
  • Solid understanding of Windows servers and 3-tier application architecture.
  • Good understanding of network topology and F5 Load Balancer, Firewalls, DNS.
  • Knowledge of WebLogic and related Web/App Servers.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with incident management and change management tools like ServiceNow.
  • Experience working in AWS hosting enterprise applications; Azure experience is a plus.
  • Documentation experience on application architecture in production environments.
  • Experience with application and server monitoring tools like AlertSite and App Dynamics.
  • Understanding of security vulnerabilities in web-based applications and remediation techniques.
