About the position

The Senior Systems Design Engineer at Thermo Fisher Scientific is a pivotal role focused on the design and development of advanced DualBeam SEM/FIB systems. This position involves conducting feasibility studies, collaborating with diverse teams, and utilizing strong analytical skills to enhance system performance. Responsibilities

  • Conduct feasibility studies, including modeling and simulation, to guide system architecture design
  • Develop high-level system and sub-system design and architecture requirements
  • Collaborate with diverse teams to develop and validate new or improved subsystem and component functionality
  • Conduct practical integration, validation, verification, and resolution of prototype systems and workflows
  • Characterize and document system performance using statistical analysis, design of experiment (DOE), and statistical process control (SPC)

Requirements

  • Master's degree with at least 5 years of relevant experience in Physics, Mechanical, Systems, or Electrical Engineering, or a doctorate degree in the same fields
  • Strong analytical skills and experience in hands-on characterization using statistical methods
  • Demonstrated competency in areas such as nanotechnology, system and process characterization, high voltage, electronics, electron microscopes, ion beam systems, machine learning (ML) and artificial intelligence (AI), semiconductor capital equipment and processes, automation, Python, metrology, motion and mechatronics, vibration and acoustics, vacuum systems, model-based systems engineering (MBSE), and design for six sigma (DfSS)
