About the position

The Senior Systems Design Engineer at Medtronic plays a crucial role in the development of innovative medical devices aimed at improving diabetes management. This position involves leading systems engineering activities to convert business and customer needs into effective solutions, focusing on the design and integration of insulin pumps, glucose sensors, mobile applications, and cloud computing systems. The engineer will collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure that all components work seamlessly together, driving the project from concept to product.

Responsibilities

• Drive collaborative design and development of medical devices, mobile apps, insulin pumps, and glucose sensors.
• Perform technical analysis such as functional analysis, timeline analysis, and trade studies.
• Develop system concepts, capture user needs, and create use cases or user stories.
• Develop and manage multiple levels of requirements.
• Develop and document interface designs and protocols.
• Define, plan, and conduct formal technical design and test reviews.
• Guide, develop, and review verification strategies, test designs, test tools, planned execution, and documentation.
• Perform technical planning, system integration, verification and validation, and evaluate alternatives including cost and risk.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering or Scientific discipline and 4+ years of technical engineering experience OR Master's degree in Engineering or Scientific discipline and 2+ years of technical engineering experience.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience capturing architectures, system designs, or product definitions.
• Experience writing technical documentation.
• Requirements Management Tools such as DOORS or PTC Integrity.
• Model Based Systems Engineering Tools such as Sparx Systems Enterprise Architect.
• Experience in technical design techniques such as use cases, functional analysis, timeline analysis, and sequence diagrams.
• Experience in mobile app or web-based systems design, development, verification, and documentation.
• Experience with mobile apps deployment and post-launch maintenance.
• Experience working with communications protocol design, definition, and documentation.
• Experience working in a regulated industry such as medical device, defense, or automotive.
