Amazon Robotics is seeking a Senior Systems Engineer/Architect to join a dynamic team that provides systems leadership for concept development, architecture, and design of robotics systems and industrial equipment. In this role, you will be inspired by invention and problem-solving through teamwork, working passionately to apply cutting-edge advances in robotics and software to solve real-world challenges that will transform our customers' experiences. You will have the opportunity to define, expand, and explore the design space for complex, multidisciplinary robotics and automation problems, identifying and analyzing the cross-functional tradeoffs between design alternatives, including their impact on performance, schedule, cost, risk, complexity, and scale. Your responsibilities will include breaking down and framing problems using CONOPS, use cases, structural/functional decompositions, and other system representations to clarify needs and align technical teams. You will identify design choices to ensure our products are safe, reliable, and usable, and can be deployed and supported at Amazon scale. Additionally, you will build quantitative models and analyses using tools such as Excel, MATLAB, and Python to conduct trade studies, refine requirements, and understand key system drivers across integrated systems. You will perform technical risk assessments, devise mitigation plans, and create system test strategies. Developing and communicating system integration and evaluation strategies and plans in support of program learning, technical risk reduction, verification, and validation will also be part of your role. You will drive and prioritize the execution of system test campaigns that span lab and field testing environments in collaboration with subsystem development and test teams, and mentor junior engineers in systems engineering best practices. The Systems Architecture Team at Amazon Robotics works across disciplines to balance technical priorities and business drivers, ensuring efficient integration of subsystems across disparate domains. The team adapts traditional systems engineering tools and best practices for the speed of development and evaluation at Amazon, using multidisciplinary analysis, integrated modeling, and systems engineering frameworks to simultaneously increase performance and robustness while reducing cost, timeline, and the number of iterations required to deliver value to the customer.
