As a Senior Systems Engineer (SSE) specializing in Database Administration at Marriott, you will be an integral part of an agile scrum team consisting of 8 to 10 members. Your primary responsibility will be to drive the delivery of virtualization, compute, storage, middleware, database, and tooling infrastructure that supports Marriott's business applications. In this role, you will serve as a subject matter expert, collaborating with business and technology leaders, architects, and other engineers across various departments to engineer modern solutions and automate the delivery of these solutions, whether in the data center or in the cloud. Your work will involve performing research, analysis, design, creation, and implementation of systems that meet both current and future requirements, enabling customer-facing and enterprise products and platforms. You will be tasked with providing innovative solutions that leverage current and leading-edge technologies in a manner that is impactful to the business. This position requires a strong focus on infrastructure as code, ensuring that the systems you design are resilient, secure, and capable of supporting high availability. In addition to technical expertise, you will be responsible for educating internal and external users about the technologies, thereby enhancing the overall knowledge and skill base of the organization. You will also be expected to document how services will be leveraged in the solution architecture and present status reports to internal stakeholders, including executive management and senior leadership. Your role will also involve mentoring team members and identifying opportunities for service delivery enhancement and continual improvement processes.
