About the position

The Senior Systems Engineer / DevOps role at Visa is focused on providing best-in-class middleware and integration infrastructure services that support communication between multiple enterprise applications. The position involves working with the Middleware Engineering team to design, build, support, and enhance platforms built on various middleware technologies, ensuring secure and scalable operations. The selected candidate will engage in development, configuration, problem analysis, deployment, and continuous operational improvement of middleware technologies used at Visa, contributing to the company's mission of facilitating digital payments globally.

Responsibilities

  • Design, build, support, and enhance internal and external facing platforms using middleware and integration technologies.
  • Develop and configure middleware technologies to support enterprise applications.
  • Analyze problems and troubleshoot production issues related to middleware systems.
  • Implement security measures and compliance standards for middleware technologies.
  • Collaborate with global teams and external integration partners to implement solutions using middleware technologies.
  • Provide 24x7 support as needed for middleware systems.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree with 2 or more years of work experience, or an Advanced Degree with relevant experience.
  • Understanding of web and application tier technologies such as Tomcat, Apache Proxy, and Nginx.
  • Knowledge of messaging technology platforms like IBMMQ and Kafka.
  • Familiarity with security technologies including SSL/TLS, PKI, and OpenSSL.
  • Scripting skills in Python, Ruby, or bash.
  • Experience with UNIX/Linux systems, databases, networking, and storage technologies.
  • Basic knowledge of micro container technologies such as Docker, Kubernetes, or OpenShift.
  • Familiarity with configuration management tools like Chef or Ansible, and DevOps tools like Jenkins and Git.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in fraud management, payment, and/or credit card processing.
  • Good understanding of load balancers, firewalls, SAN, DNS, and LDAP.
