About the position

The Senior Systems Engineer will be part of the Ansys AGI IT Operations Support team, focusing on supporting Information Technology applications, systems, services, and infrastructure. This role involves executing technical operational support, including system monitoring, performance remediation, and addressing vulnerabilities in critical infrastructure systems. The position requires a senior-level individual who will report to the Manager of Infrastructure (Windows) and will be based onsite in Exton, PA.

Responsibilities

  • Support operation vulnerability and patch management using tools like WSUS, PatchMyPC, Connectwise Automate, Microsoft Intune, Nessus Tenable Security Center, and Ansible.
  • Automate tasks through scripting technologies, preferably using Windows PowerShell.
  • Monitor and remediate vulnerability, performance, and health issues within infrastructure systems.
  • Resolve Helpdesk tickets and work order escalations in a timely manner.
  • Support IT infrastructure level 3 support/triage and maintenance as necessary, ensuring proactive information services health and performance.
  • Ensure proper uniformity, documentation, and configuration control of technology platforms, processes, and projects, improving documentation to reduce repetitive tickets via SOP documentation.
  • Participate in on-call 24X7 support as needed in the event of system outage or failure.

Requirements

  • Associate degree
  • Minimum 5 years of experience supporting large enterprise and/or cloud operations.
  • Competent with a proven history working with Windows Desktops (10 / 11), Windows Servers (2016 and newer), and Linux servers (RedHat / Rocky).
  • Competent with a proven history working with Active Directory, GPO, DNS, DFS, File and Print Services.
  • Experience with IT security, certificates/ PKI, and vulnerability management.
  • Strong knowledge of administering and maintaining Linux and Windows systems at scale.
  • Experience with automation tools (Ansible, Terraform, Connectwise, JAMs).
  • Knowledge of automation scripting (Python, PowerShell, Bash, etc.).
  • Understanding or experience of common networking protocols and services including IP, TCP, UDP, DNS, DHCP, HTTP(s).
  • Full technology stack understanding for troubleshooting (network, storage, infrastructure (servers), cloud, applications, etc.).
  • Able to document work performed for cross-pollination and repeatability.
  • Motivated and energetic team player.
  • Able to work independently and own tasks to completion.

Nice-to-haves

  • Microsoft Server Certification
  • Windows Desktop / Server and Linux server GOLD image certification.
  • Experience working with Linux (CentOS/RHEL/RedHat) with a preference for RedHat.
  • Experience supporting security and compliance audits pertaining to STIGs, NIST 800-171 and CMMC.
