About the position

The Senior Systems Engineer - Hardware Focused position at Elbit Systems of America involves a critical role in the development of electromechanical medical devices. The engineer will be responsible for understanding and capturing user needs into system requirements, ensuring that quality targets are met, and managing technical risks throughout the program lifecycle. This position requires close interaction with customers to enhance product quality and customer satisfaction. The engineer will lead efforts to create system-level concepts for new project proposals, reviewing and critiquing concepts developed by others. They will also prepare cost and schedule estimates for major design development efforts and provide technical presentation support to marketing during proposals and development phases. The role includes planning and leading experiments to evaluate the operating characteristics of products or processes, translating experimental results into design criteria. Additionally, the Senior Systems Engineer will support system integration, verification, and validation by defining, specifying, and supervising testing, analysis, and integration activities. They will ensure that reports are prepared to document the results of these activities and support the design review and phase gate process to meet FDA/ISO requirements and standards. The engineer will oversee the development of requirements across various disciplines, including software, electrical, mechanical, and electro-optics, ensuring a comprehensive approach to systems engineering.

Responsibilities

  • Understand and capture user needs into system requirements.
  • Ensure quality targets are satisfied and manage technical risks.
  • Lead the creation of system-level concepts for new project proposals.
  • Review and critique concepts created by others.
  • Prepare Systems Engineering cost and schedule estimates for major design development efforts.
  • Provide technical presentation support and consultation to marketing for proposals and during development.
  • Plan and lead experiments to evaluate operating characteristics of products or processes.
  • Translate experimental results into design criteria.
  • Support system integration, verification, and validation by defining, specifying, and supervising testing, analysis, and integration activities.
  • Ensure reports are prepared to document the results of testing and integration activities.
  • Support the design review and phase gate process to meet FDA/ISO requirements and standards.
  • Oversee the development of requirements for various engineering disciplines.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering.
  • 5 years of complex electro-mechanical instrument systems engineering experience.
  • Hardware/software integration experience.
  • Must be available for daily onsite presence.

Nice-to-haves

  • Master's degree in Engineering.
  • Medical Device experience.
  • Extensive development experience in software, mechanical, electrical, optics, fluidics, and knowledge of advanced theories, concepts, principles, and processes.
  • Ability to provide technical leadership during the investigation of complex medical instrumentation products.
