About the position

The Senior Systems Engineer - Hardware at Marriott International is a pivotal role responsible for providing architecture, engineering, and delivery support to the Technology Workplace Products Hardware team. This position focuses on component hardening, hardware lifecycle management, compliance, and product selection. The engineer will collaborate with business and technology leaders, architects, and other engineers across various disciplines to design and implement systems that meet both current and future requirements. The role demands a proactive approach to ensure that Marriott's services maintain the necessary resiliency and uptime, while also facilitating a fast rate of change and improvements in both functional and non-functional aspects. In this role, the Senior Systems Engineer will conduct research, analysis, design, creation, and implementation of systems that leverage current and leading-edge technologies in innovative ways. The engineer will be responsible for architecting, designing, testing, and implementing component hardening standards for endpoints, as well as hardware lifecycle solutions and compliance management enhancements. This position also involves providing technical leadership and oversight for contractors and managed service providers, ensuring that Marriott's solution delivery aligns with best practices and organizational goals. The engineer will document solutions and facilitate knowledge transfer through designs, build documents, and run guides for external service providers. They will translate requests from Continental IT, Global Procurement, and Business Partners into new features or modifications, and advocate for necessary policy or engineering enhancements. Additionally, the role includes evaluating technology products and leading analyses of the current environment to identify deficiencies and recommend improvements. The Senior Systems Engineer will function as a strategic technical expert, developing specific goals and plans to prioritize and accomplish work effectively, while also supporting the achievement of performance and budget goals.

Responsibilities

  • Architects, designs, tests, and implements component hardening standards for endpoints.
  • Architects, designs, tests, and implements hardware lifecycle solutions and enhancements.
  • Architects, designs, tests, and implements compliance management solutions and enhancements.
  • Provides technical leadership, oversight, governance, and direction for contractors and managed service providers related to Marriott's solution delivery.
  • Documents solutions and performs knowledge transfer via designs, build documents, and run guides to external service providers.
  • Creates and drives development of process and system documentation.
  • Translates and defines Continental IT, Global Procurement, and Business Partners requests into new features, enhancements, or modifications.
  • Conducts reviews of hardware lifecycle to review effectiveness, potential gaps, and documents improvement opportunities.
  • Advocates for any needed policy/engineering enhancements.
  • Provides technical expertise to project team for successful project and change implementations.
  • Determines customer requirements and works with sourced resources to develop solutions.
  • Participates in the evaluation and selection of technology products.
  • Institutes best practices & ensures proper alignment to projects & major initiatives.
  • Leads analysis of the current environment to detect critical deficiencies and recommends solutions for improvement.
  • Leads analysis of technology industry and market trends to determine the potential impact on existing and planned architectures.

Requirements

  • 7+ years experience in information technology with technical skills.
  • 5+ years experience with designing and implementing hardware lifecycle models for Android, iOS, MacOS, and Windows devices.
  • 3+ years experience designing and implementing endpoint management software (e.g., Intune, Workspace One, BigFix).
  • 3+ years experience with designing endpoint solutions that support CIS/NIST standards.
  • Technical infrastructure operations, administration, or engineering background.

Nice-to-haves

  • Demonstrated experience providing technical oversight of third-party resources and vendors.
  • 5+ years experience with hardware product selection globally.
  • 3+ years experience with integrating with PowerBI, ServiceNow, and SIEM technologies.
  • Experience with Design Thinking.

  • Excellent communication/reporting skills and problem-solving ability.
  • Excellent technical knowledge of current & emerging infrastructure systems & standards.
