About the position

The Senior Systems Engineer - Mechanical at Westinghouse Electric Company is responsible for the design, analysis, and testing of reactor plant fluid systems specifically for AP1000 nuclear power plants. Additionally, the position requires analyzing plant testing and operational data to ensure systems are functioning as intended and to identify areas for improvement. In this role, the engineer will also perform statistical and uncertainty analysis of complex data sets, which is crucial for understanding the reliability and safety of the systems in question. Troubleshooting and diagnosing issues with plant safety systems and components is a key responsibility, requiring a deep understanding of both the theoretical and practical aspects of mechanical engineering as it applies to nuclear power plants. The engineer will work closely with other engineering disciplines to ensure that all systems are integrated effectively and operate safely under all conditions.

Responsibilities

• Design, analyze, and test reactor plant fluid systems for AP1000 nuclear power plants.
• Perform thermo-hydraulic calculations of plant safety systems including fluid flow, hydraulic resistance, and heat transfer.
• Prepare design and licensing change packages for modifications to plant safety systems and components.
• Analyze plant testing and operational data to ensure system functionality and safety.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Nuclear Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or related field.
• Six years of progressive, post-baccalaureate work experience in the job offered or a related occupation.
• Experience in engineering design and analysis of fluid systems (thermal hydraulics).
• Experience with instrumentation and controls.
• Experience in test design and data analysis.
• Experience in statistical analysis.
