About the position

The Senior System Engineer - Network Technologies role is focused on leading innovative network technology initiatives for AI and compute infrastructure within hardware and data center environments. This position involves integrating cutting-edge technologies, enhancing data center efficiency and sustainability, and serving as a subject matter expert in network technologies. The role offers the flexibility of a hybrid work environment and requires collaboration with various teams to solve complex challenges in cloud technology.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical leadership by identifying and guiding innovative network technology projects from ideation to productization.
• Foster collaboration by engaging in cross-team orchestration to enhance technological understanding and capabilities.
• Build business cases for network technology, including Total Cost of Ownership (TCO), Net Present Value (NPV), and Return on Investment (ROI).
• Maintain a system mindset to navigate the impact of network technology from chip to facility, collaborating closely with data center, software, and hardware teams.
• Identify and drive strategic priorities by proposing initiatives that change company strategy, ensuring significant business impact.
• Stay current with technology trends by monitoring developments in cloud technology and identifying best practices and opportunities for improvement.
• Act as an advocate and evangelist for network technology, driving impact across solution areas and engaging with stakeholders.
• Develop and execute strategic plans for technology evaluation and planning, partnering with teams to track efficacy and drive long-term growth.
• Coordinate and unify initiatives to ensure alignment and efficiency in delivering technological and sustainability commitments.
• Engage in business cadence by participating in regular meetings to share insights and drive accountability for key performance indicators.
• Represent the company externally at meetings and events, promoting technology and sustainability initiatives.
• Champion a culture of innovation and sustainability within the company through personal commitment and subject matter expertise.
• Manage multiple concurrent projects effectively, ensuring time management and prioritization, while flagging risks to project deliverables.

Requirements

• 7+ years of technical engineering experience, or a Bachelor's degree in a related field with 5+ years of experience, or a Master's degree with 3+ years of experience, or a Doctorate degree in a related field.
• 5+ years of demonstrated deep understanding of different server and data center network technologies.
• Proven experience in network system and hardware reliability, operation, and productization.
• Hands-on experience with network and switch technology.
• Knowledge of cloud and AI network hardware and architecture.
• Ability to meet customer and/or government security screening requirements.

Nice-to-haves

• 8+ years of technical engineering experience, or a Bachelor's degree in a related field with 6+ years of experience, or a Master's degree with 4+ years of experience, or a Doctorate degree with 3+ years of experience.
• Involvement in industry thought leadership in network technologies for data center design and operation.
• Fundamental understanding of chip design, including Very Large System Integration (VLSI).
• Proven experience in system hardware testing, including development, execution, and debugging.
• Knowledge of server system architecture with hands-on experience in integration and validation of hardware components.
• Proven written and oral communication skills.
• Familiarity with network infrastructure and deploying technology at scale.
• Extensive experience leading complex network technology projects within large-scale data center environments.
• Ability to mentor and lead virtual teams.
• Track record of innovative problem-solving in cutting-edge technological contexts.
• Demonstrated ability to collaborate across diverse teams and influence executive-level stakeholders.
• Advanced certification in relevant fields such as data center management or advanced network technologies.
