About the position

The Senior Systems Engineer will support the Nuclear Command, Control, and Communications (NC3) Program at Hanscom AFB, MA. This role involves applying extensive engineering knowledge to design and implement secure communication systems, addressing unique challenges, and providing expert advice on program operations. The engineer will also engage in digital engineering practices, evaluate new technologies, and ensure system security and resiliency in designs.

Responsibilities

  • Apply engineering theories and principles to modify existing systems and processes.
  • Resolve unique problems that may require altering standard practices and techniques.
  • Provide expert advice to colleagues and agency officials on program operations.
  • Support digital engineering concepts throughout the program lifecycle, including Model Based Systems Engineering (MBSE).
  • Evaluate new technologies and strategies for applicability to current systems.
  • Conduct needs analysis to identify opportunities for new or improved systems engineering processes.
  • Perform trade space analysis and cost, schedule, and performance trade-off analysis.
  • Incorporate system security and resiliency into system designs.
  • Develop cost estimates for new or modified systems.
  • Prepare management reports and conduct technical presentations.
  • Ensure integration of all system components with external systems.
  • Design and perform system-level tests to validate subsystem performance.
  • Manage and sustain the program technical baseline.
  • Provide technical support and training for program initiatives.
  • Conduct risk management activities in compliance with Air Force processes.
  • Perform Information Systems Security Developer and Systems Developer tasks as outlined in DoD Cyber Workforce Framework.

Requirements

  • MA Degree and more than 10 years of related experience, OR BA Degree and more than 15 years of experience in a related field.
  • Must possess and maintain a government security clearance at the Top-Secret/SCI level.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office programs (Excel, Word, Outlook).
  • Ability to transport self to various facility sites as required.
