About the position

The Senior Systems Engineer for the Pressurized Lunar Rover at Astrion is a pivotal role within the Space Division, specifically supporting the JETS II Contract. This position is based in Houston, TX, and is a full-time opportunity that requires a strong background in systems engineering principles, particularly as they relate to space hardware. The successful candidate will be responsible for producing Systems Engineering & Integration products for NASA's Extravehicular Activity (EVA) and Human Surface Mobility (HSM) Program, with a focus on the Pressurized Lunar Rover (PR) Project Office. This role involves collaboration with team members to review engineering products, develop and maintain program requirements, and utilize various systems engineering tools to ensure project success. The Senior Systems Engineer will engage in the planning, development, and review of critical documentation such as Project Technical Requirements Specification (PTRS), Interface Control Documents (ICDs), and Verification and Validation Documents (V&VD). The position also requires the ability to prepare materials for system life cycle phases, including System Readiness Reviews (SRR) and Critical Design Reviews (CDR). A key aspect of this role is risk management, where the engineer will work with team members to identify risks, develop risk statements, and plan appropriate responses. The engineer will also perform system-level architecture trade studies and analyses that influence overall system design and performance. In addition to technical responsibilities, the Senior Systems Engineer will maintain a professional relationship with NASA customers and other support contractors, ensuring effective communication and collaboration throughout the project lifecycle. The role demands a self-motivated individual who can adapt to rapidly evolving project requirements and contribute positively to the team environment.
