We have an exciting opportunity to join our world-class engineering team. In this role, you will be responsible for the continued development of an advanced, leading-edge software system providing excellent technical guidance and team communication. As the Senior Systems Engineer - Product Owner (SE - PO), you will function in a technical role in a SAFe Agile development environment and effectively work and communicate with all levels of Program Leadership, Customers, and Engineers on the Program team. This position is on-site in Richardson, Texas. You will collaborate with the Raytheon systems engineering and subcontractor teams to design and develop software. Your responsibilities will include assisting in providing technical direction and clarification to subcontractors during the entire software development lifecycle; from conceptualization and design to development, testing, deployment, and operations. You will perform solution decomposition from customer epics to capabilities, to features, to stories according to SAFe practices. Additionally, you will apply systems engineering expertise in particular to feature designs to reduce overall risk to the software development lifecycle. Engaging with customer user representatives to gather user needs and incorporating them into the feature designs will also be a key part of your role. You will engage with SMEs from other disciplines to fully understand the solution and document the designs.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with the Raytheon systems engineering and subcontractor teams to design and develop software.
  • Assist in providing technical direction and clarification to subcontractors during the entire software development lifecycle.
  • Perform solution decomposition from customer epics to capabilities, to features, to stories according to SAFe practices.
  • Apply systems engineering expertise in particular to feature designs to reduce overall risk to the software development lifecycle.
  • Engage with customer user representatives to gather user needs and incorporate into the feature designs.
  • Engage with SMEs from other disciplines to fully understand the solution and document the designs.

Requirements

  • Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and a minimum of 5 years of prior relevant experience unless prohibited by local laws/regulations; or an advanced degree in a related field and minimum 3 years experience.
  • Active and transferable TS/SCI U.S. government issued security clearance is required prior to start date.
  • Experience working in an Agile development team environment with multi-discipline engineers and stakeholders, developing system solutions to meet customer requirements.
  • Experience managing or guiding teams addressing solution definition, decomposition, and design.
  • Experience performing design with cross-disciplined engineering teams.
  • Experience with the software development lifecycle.
  • Experience with EVMS basic processes and utilizing software development automation (Build, Deploy, Test).

Nice-to-haves

  • Broad background and experience successfully working with all levels of engineering development in large government software development programs.
  • Extensive engineering experience working in the full software development lifecycle using Agile methodology.
  • Experience using Agile tool sets (JIRA, Confluence, Bitbucket, etc.), and evaluation of COTS products.
  • Experience with subcontract management processes.
