About The Position

5-D Systems, a KRATOS Company, is seeking a highly motivated Senior Systems Engineer to provide full lifecycle systems engineering technical contribution and leadership in support of unmanned, manned, and optionally piloted aircraft systems. This full-time position requires effective teamwork and the ability to develop requirements, create system design documentation, maintain analytical models, and conduct tests to validate requirements. The role involves interfacing with internal and external project team members, company leadership, and customers.

Requirements

• Experience developing system requirements and system design documentation
• Sharp analytical abilities and excellent communication skills
• Demonstrated technical leadership capabilities
• Results-oriented with a sense of ownership, urgency, and drive
• Experience working within the Defense and/or Aerospace industry
• Experience in Aircraft systems
• Experience in unmanned aircraft is a plus

Responsibilities

• Analyzing customer/stakeholder requirements, decomposing requirements, deriving requirements, and allocating requirements to system and subsystem elements
• Developing system architectures for new and existing systems
• Conducting trade studies and performing design research of engineering concepts and explorations to determine optimal requirements and system architecture
• Developing system/subsystem interface definitions, system schematics, and system design documentation
• Developing test plans and reports
• Leading and conducting various kinds of testing including hardware-in-the-loop (HWIL), subsystem and system testing, and flight testing
• Working in conjunction with Software Engineering Team to develop software system requirements and test requirements
• Participating in planning, design, testing, and deployment of moderately complex, engineered systems and software to ensure conformance with functional specifications and customer requirements
• Performing peer reviews of fellow team members' work
• Assisting in preparation of proposals and presentation materials
• Leading or supporting system engineering technical reviews (SETR)
• Traveling to customer locations as needed (>25% travel may be expected at times)
