About the position

As a Senior Systems Engineer at GDIT, you will deliver tailored solutions to complex engineering problems, focusing on enhancing the end user's network experience. This role emphasizes hands-on involvement in systems design, development, and integration, ensuring the infrastructure is secure and efficient. You will work on-site in Bossier City, LA, contributing to major engineering projects and guiding less-experienced professionals while maintaining a commitment to continuous learning and professional growth.

Responsibilities

• Contributes to completion of major engineering programs and projects
• Assists in solutions to a variety of highly complex engineering problems
• Assists in highly complex systems design, development, and integration from the start of a systems life cycle to the end
• Assists in overseeing highly complex infrastructure including installing, configuring, testing, and maintaining operating systems, application software, and system management tools, Firewalls, Switches
• Performs highly complex systems modeling, simulation, and analysis
• Performs continual maintenance and provides highly complex solutions for security, backup, and redundancy problems
• Prepares and maintains documentation for processes and procedures related to engineering projects
• Maintains current knowledge of rapidly changing technology and works with management to evolve current processes
• May provide guidance to less-experienced professionals
• May serve as a team or task lead

Requirements

• BA/BS degree and 8+ years of related experience (additional years can be considered in lieu of degree)
• US Citizenship required
• Active secret clearance
• Comp TIA Sec+ certification
• Proficiency in scripting (bash, tcsh, JavaScript, Python)
• Experience with Linux (must) and Windows operating systems
• Knowledge of Networking, Firewalls, Switches, Systems Integration, Security (IPSEC), agile experience, GitLab
