About the position

The Electro Optical Infrared Systems (EOIS) line of business at DRS is seeking a qualified engineer to lead the analysis, design, development, and implementation of electro-optical and infrared systems. This role involves overseeing a team of engineers, ensuring projects are completed on time and within budget, and requires strong technical knowledge in the field. The position emphasizes collaboration, communication, and adherence to the company's mission and values.

Responsibilities

  • Analyze, design, develop, and implement new and existing systems/sub-systems.
  • Lead a group of engineers on technical activities, ensuring timely and budget-compliant completion.
  • Design, develop, analyze, document, and support testing of products, systems, or subsystems.
  • Review customer specifications and develop designs that meet requirements, considering cost as a key variable.
  • Provide budget, cost, and schedule input for design assignments.
  • Specify and evaluate supplier components, subsystems, and services.
  • Drive program design to meet cost and manufacturability requirements.
  • Develop prototypes to mitigate key development risks.
  • Communicate effectively with company personnel and customers as required.
  • Participate in proposal preparation.
  • Provide technical knowledge and assistance to other engineers and support personnel.
  • Lead and direct the work of others as assigned.
  • Support and reinforce the mission, values, and culture of the organization.
  • Attend engineering, customer, or business meetings.
  • Mentor less-experienced engineers.

Requirements

  • Experience with Electro Optic Infrared Systems.
  • Experience with developing and managing requirements.
  • Experience with DOORS requirements management tool and MATLAB.
  • Experience with integration and testing of EO/IR systems.
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering or related technical field with a minimum of 5 years of experience.
  • Fluency in technologies and application domain.
  • Ability to lead a technical group independently.
