About the position

As a Senior Systems Engineer at MITRE, you will leverage your expertise in systems engineering to support the development and integration of enterprise systems for federal agencies. This role focuses on applying innovative engineering techniques to address critical national challenges across various domains, including defense, healthcare, and cybersecurity. You will work collaboratively with teams to provide actionable recommendations and drive a holistic approach to systems development.

Responsibilities

  • Apply cutting edge methods and tools to assess designs and mitigate performance constraints.
  • Support MITRE teams in advising government leaders on capabilities, priorities, and technology needs.
  • Manage requirements, interfaces, architecture development, and evaluation processes.
  • Conduct qualitative and quantitative systems engineering analyses for federal agencies.
  • Lead small teams to develop data-driven products for government decision making.
  • Participate in research opportunities in advanced engineering fields.
  • Drive a holistic approach to systems development and design.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, Systems Engineering, Computer Science, Physics, Mathematics, or a relevant technical discipline.
  • Minimum of 5 years of related experience with a Bachelor's degree; or 3 years with a Master's degree; or a PhD with relevant experience.
  • Experience with systems engineering tools such as MagicDraw/Cameo, Rhapsody, AnyLogic, or MATLAB.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, along with critical thinking skills.
  • Ability to obtain a Secret level security clearance by the start date.

Nice-to-haves

  • Advanced degree in Engineering, Systems Engineering, Computer Science, Physics, Mathematics, or a relevant technical discipline.
  • Experience with UML/SysML and associated modeling software.
  • Experience with operational analysis tools or Data Analytics tools and languages.
  • Strong interpersonal skills for developing trusted advisor relationships with government leaders.
  • Experience integrating models across simulation applications for detailed analysis.
  • Experience developing plugins for system architecture modeling tools.
  • Broad systems engineering experience including concept development, requirements analysis, and risk assessment.
